Our litigation team successfully represented a European manufacturer of trucks in arbitration

Our lawyers successfully represented our client in arbitration on the dispute on recovery of debts and penalties arising from a contract.

The contract included an arbitration clause, which established jurisdiction of the Kazakhstan International Arbitrage over any dispute arising from the contract. In the course of the arbitration proceedings, we managed to prove validity of our client’s claim.

An interesting discussion took place with regard to accounting documents. In particular, the parties argued about issue of hard copies of VAT invoices during the period, when only certain types of taxpayers had to issue such electronic VAT invoices. The debtor tried to challenge the amounts under electronic VAT invoice as due.
