Zhazira has more than 15 years of legal experience, primarily in the oil and gas sector and in supporting major international investors operating in Kazakhstan. During her career with a large international oil and gas corporation, she progressed from Legal Assistant to Legal Director and General Counsel.

As head of the legal function, Zhazira was responsible for comprehensive legal support of the company’s operations and for addressing key legal and regulatory matters, including oil export restrictions, major tax disputes, litigation, subsoil use matters and negotiations with government authorities and other stakeholders.

Her experience includes participating in negotiations with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the terms of a subsoil use contract and related matters, as well as providing legal support on issues that were significant to the successful and sustainable operation of the business in Kazakhstan.

Zhazira also played an active role in the strategic management of the company. She participated in the Corporate Leadership Development Programme and was a member of the Extended Leadership Team, comprising the corporation’s top 50 leaders, contributing to the development and implementation of the company’s mission and strategy.

As a leader, Zhazira managed a legal team of more than 15 professionals and placed particular emphasis on professional development, mentoring and building a strong and effective team culture.
