On 24 May, SIGNUM’s Senior Associate Gaukhar Kudaibergenova spoke at the English Law Day Forum in Almaty. The Forum was organized by the Law Society of England and Wales with the support of the Kazakhstan Bar Association and the British Kazakhstan Law Association.
The Forum covered, among others, the latest news from England and Wales – Brexit myths and realities; transactional update – current market trends in M&A transactions, disputes update – current market trends in international litigation and arbitration.
Ms Kudaibergenova delivered a speech on challenges of English-law governed shareholders agreements in Kazakhstan, which prompted a lively discussion among audience. She further touched upon application and potential use of English law concepts in the constituent documents of Kazakhstan companies and the relevance of the same in the Kazakhstan law context.
