Sultan focuses on dispute resolution, employment law, bankruptcy and rehabilitation, as well as intellectual property and enforcement matters. He assists in representing international and Kazakhstan clients in court and pre-litigation proceedings and advises on employment matters, insolvency and the recognition and enforcement of court and arbitral decisions.
Selected Experience
Intellectual Property. Assisted in representing a major international manufacturer of personal care and paper products before the Appeals Board of the Ministry of Justice in a dispute concerning the invalidation of a trademark registration.
Bankruptcy and Rehabilitation. Assisted in representing a major financial company in court proceedings involving bankruptcy administrators and advised a major foreign client on bankruptcy and rehabilitation matters.
Employment Disputes. Advised a client on a potential employment dispute arising after completion of a probationary period.
Employment Contracts and Working Time. Advised an IT company on drafting an employment agreement reflecting a flexible work schedule and seasonal changes in working hours.
Employment Termination and Liquidation. Advised a major foreign client on the termination of employment agreements and preparation of an action plan in connection with liquidation.
Commercial Disputes. Assisted in the pre-litigation settlement of a dispute for a major foreign company concerning a long-term lease of commercial premises.
Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards. Assisted in proceedings for the recognition and enforcement of an arbitral award, including obtaining an enforcement writ.
