SIGNUM participated in the briefing session of the English Law Summit in Astana
Sofiya Zhylkaidarova, the Managing Partner of SIGNUM Law Firm, and Liza Zhumakhmetova, the Head of M&A practice, participated in the briefing session of the English Law Summit organized by the British Embassy, the Law Society of England and Wales and the General Council of the Bar which took place on 23 April 2018 in Astana and was attended by lawyers, barristers and representatives of the Law Society and the General Council of the Bar. The agenda of the session included political and economic overview and legal reforms in Kazakhstan. SIGNUM delegates spoke on the regulation of the legal profession in Kazakhstan, bringing in the issue of possibility for foreign lawyers to practice locally, and the AIFC (Astana International Financial Center) on the Kazakhstan arena, namely, the expected effect of the AIFC on the international business and the foreign investment environment in Kazakhstan. Among speakers were the UK Ministry of Justice representatives, who presented some highlights of the “Legal Services are GREAT” campaign rolling out this year. The English Law Summit is taking place in Astana and Almaty on 24 and 25 April respectively and SIGNUM is taking an active part.
