On 23 November 2015, the President of Kazakhstan signed the new Labour Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as a regulatory act entitled “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Labour Regulation Issues”, aimed at bringing conformity to current legislation and to the newly adopted Labour Code.
Both regulatory acts have been adopted for the purpose of modernising labour relationships in terms of realising the National plan “100 specific steps towards the realisation of five institutional reforms”.
•Simplifying the procedure to alter the terms of employment agreements
•Extending grounds for termination of employment agreements on the initiative of employers
•Granting employers the right to set probation periods for all categories of employees
•Instituting a comprehensive approach to the issue of the employment of the disabled
•Creating a choice of form, system, and rate of the salary paid to employees according to employer acts or initiatives by employee representatives
•Establishing an institute of technical inspectors from among employees, nominated by trade unions, for the purpose of enhancing social control
